- I am an Adult Female with ADHD who also has a child with Type 6 "Ring of Fire" ADHD she is 11 years old and having major problems in her school. I am trying to be an ADVOCATE for her with her Special Ed Classes and also the school districts special ed dept. as well. I feel as though I'm fighting a loosing battle. The special ed at her school for 3 years haven't followed their own recomendations which they have wrtten year after year on her I.E.P. Whatever I tell them regarding what her educational needs are and how they could help to meet them any recommendations I give in order to help her they shoot me down immediately. I've also been lied to outright regarding several things and programs in which they say they use in certain grades but not her's (that was in a meeting in person we had with 12 people from the District office) Then when I asked them to pease use the program which they said they had and could be used in her age and class they tell me in not a very nice way (rudely) that no they can't use that program because they can only use it in the younger grades. This was exactly oppisite of which was said in the meeting. This is just one example of what the school and district is doing are doing and not doing too my daughter or me in trying to advocate for my daughter. It makes me extremely angry. It's getting old!
