It's been a challenging year since I was first diagnosed with ADD last November. Treatment (stimulant medication) for ADD made me utterly alert, for the first time, to harsh, bullying activity in my workplace which echoed the abusive environment of my childhood, I fell apart from hurt and anger and nearly succeeded at suicide. I am lucky to have made it through alive. I separated from my employer through early retirement and am on long-term disability. I'm 56, was in graduate school at the time…

Medical insurance covered these treatments, but we went to a DAN doctor for Autism and he had us try some new diets for ADD. We had to get a second mortgage on our…

When you hear about ADD-ADHD, you often hear about medication sooner or later... usually sooner. Most of the time, the person sings the praises of medication. However, an increasing set of voices are less thrilled with medication options.
Parents want to know about the long term health effects of medications. They wonder, "Exactly what do these ADD medications do?" Many people ask why some of these medications are so similar to speed. That seems like giving a child a line of coke to snort. How…

“I just finished reading this book and I have decided that I am ADD.”
“I saw a TV show about ADHD. I have it and so does my son.”
“My daughter’s teacher says she asks too many questions. Do you think she’s hyperactive?”
Over the past ten years, we’ve all heard announcements like these from friends, family and even strangers.

Karma is super brown. I love this dog. If she would just calm down a bit, I could keep her underneath my desk at work. I am sure certain people would not be happy about that.

Tommy (AKA Tim) is out of town until Sunday. Yippie skippie. Three whole dayz of laying around on my uncomfortable couc…

Blah. Blah ditty blah. Blah ditty blah blah blah.
I am freaking tired. Hopefully the coffee, chocolate, or medication I just took will kick in soon and I will wake up...resulting in high levels of on-the job efficiency and/or productivity. I wouldn't count on it though. To be honest, I have no problem functioning at this lower than average level for a homo sapien. Too bad other people do have a problem with it......
The big question is...will I do at least one productive thing today while at w…

I'm at work. Searching for specific information online. Of course, this process is very stimulating to me as it is somewhat of a treasure hunt. Unfortunately, I am so distracted by the wealth of fun stuff out there that I end up wasting the whole day. All I have to show for it is a pile of unwanted printable coupons. They were not what I was looking for. Of course not.....

In December, the New Zealand based ADHD Association went into recession and the office closed.
A message posted on their website:
An amazing amount of voluntary work has been shouldered by a small number of people in the past and this model is no longer sustainable.
It is hoped that we will re-emerge as a professional national body with an executive board, a CEO and a feasibility study is presently being undertaken to see if this is achievable.…
